It probably can be repaired but I don't have the funds to get it serviced right now. So the only way I was accessing the internet was through my cell phone (yea that was fun) and at my mom's house. But thank my dad, Paul, for teaching me about computers. I may not be a genius like him but I was able to successfully reinstall Windows XP onto my old IBM laptop. It took me a good while to battle some problems with my ethernet controllers but with a lot of stubborness, I was finally able to figure it out and I now have a computer to blog again. So excited.<br />

I normally blow them off within a couple of weeks...or was it days in the new year. This year, I determined to break the mold. Fresh off my weight release challenge that I participated in my job for the last 3 months, I want to continue to momentum to push and challenge myself. I lost a 36lbs by the way but have gained some back to due the Holidays =). So here I declare on the great web my personal and home goals for 2012.<div><br />
</div><div>Personal Goals</div><div><ol><li>De-clutter my life and become more organized. </li>

<li>Treat Yo Self (or rather myself)</li>

My mother, daughter and I spent 7 days and 6 nights at the Riu Ocho Rios in a junior suite overlooking the garden and pool, Room 1023 to be exact. The last time I went to Jamaica was 11 years prior during my junior year of high school for my grandfather's funeral. He lived near Kingston which is the southeastern region of the country while Ocho Rios is around the north coast.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/Jamaica%202011/IMG_5981.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/Jamaica%202011/IMG_5981.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>We took a very long bus ride approximately 1.5hours to the resort. The resort itself is the largest resort in Ochie with beautiful scenery. We had actually arrived very early around 11am but check in wasn't until 3pm. We had a little trouble checking in but the staff was very pleasant and we actually got our wrist bands to enjoy the amenities right away. So we went off to eat some lunch cause we were starving. Here are some views of the ocean that I took<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/Jamaica%202011/IMG_6011.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/Jamaica%202011/IMG_6011.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/Jamaica%202011/IMG_6417.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/Jamaica%202011/IMG_6417.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/Jamaica%202011/IMG_6062.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/Jamaica%202011/IMG_6062.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Despite the check in issues and the last day (will get to it at the end), the rest of the stay was amazing. The staff were very friendly and interactive with the guests. The night shows were a bit cheesy but fun for some evening entertainment. Sometimes they got a bit raunchy but most of the time it was ok for little ones to watch. Each day the room service lady would make a towel animal like this one</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/Jamaica%202011/IMG_6071.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/Jamaica%202011/IMG_6071.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">For the most part with the exception of Dunn's River Falls, we stayed on the hotel site. We enjoyed traditional Jamaican cuisine such as ackee and saltfish, plantain, boiled dumplings, and liver most mornings at breakfast. At night, they had specials such as curry paella and curry pasta.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/Jamaica%202011/IMG_6379.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/Jamaica%202011/IMG_6379.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

I guess we could have gone on our own but I felt blessed to be able to attend my cousin G and his wife L wedding. We arrived the same day as the bride and groom and the days leading up to and day after the wedding I got to know the bride better. They are truly a match for each other and I wish them many years of happiness, they truly deserve it. The turn out was amazing at approximately 100 wedding guests which is a large group for a destination wedding. They were married on July 22 which also happens to be my dad's birthday so it made the occasion double special considering I was in the country he was born on his bday.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

It was to be baby Noah's room but now it is pretty much the room that holds all the junk. I don't have an updated pictured of the turquoise blue painted walls with orange ceiling but they are going to change. My visions for my house have changed in the last couple of months and although I loved that color scheme then (and still do) I am going a different direction.<br />
<br />
This room is by far the ugliest room of the house besides the basement (which will not be shown yet) with the mystery toilet in the middle of the room. I don't have many pictures of this room but it is very small and has one window and a so called closet.<br />
<br />
As you can see the room is very dark and dated. We have brown paneling. On the floor is old musty carpeting, laminate tiles outer and vinyl tiles inner. This room is also the only one without any overhead<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3490.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3490.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3492.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3492.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Smallest room in the house but definitely the ugliest. Thinking white walls, new ceiling, new sconces, and transformation into a guest room possible future baby room.</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1007654050068043664.post-6270844100282641912011-07-27T09:00:00.001-04:002011-07-27T09:00:14.437-04:00Week Two House Tour: 2nd Bedroom (Daughter K)<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Today we are going to look at the before pictures of my daughter's bedroom. They actually had wallpaper on that we easily took down on day 1 after we got the keys to the house. So this is essentially a stripped room. It did however still have a nasty stink carpet.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">We used to sleep in her room until our room was painted but there are the stripped wallpapered plaster walls. They are in decent shape. The ugly nasty green shag carpet.</div><br />

<div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">I don't have any recent pictures of her room but let's just say it's a whole lot of pink walls and hot pink trim. Definitely going to tone down the room to be more reflective in the house general scheme. Thinking about a muted pink or possibly light gray with white trim.</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Also want to get rid of her ceiling which is not pictured. It's squares with indentions and I would rather have it drywalled and add crown modeling later on. Also need to refinish the hardwood floors as well as the other hardwood floors in the house.</span></div></td></tr>

This was actually the first room to get a major overhaul but we did not DIY considering the state of the bathroom. Once you see the pictures you will understand. I still pretty much lived with my mom until it was complete about a month later. This is our only full bathroom in the house, we don't even have a half bathroom, just a mystery functional disgusting toilet in the basement.<br />
<br />
I hired a family friend who also did an amazing job on the house I grew up in which was actually owned by mom at the time. My brother now lives there with his fiancee. Today I will share the before pictures and tomorrow I will reveal the new bathroom.<br />
<br />
<u><b>Before</b></u><br />
The lady was a widow for quiet sometime until she died and her sister sold the house as an estate sale. This is our bathroom when we bought our house. Very outdated, dingy cracked subway tile, disgusting tub, repulsive toilet, and just all sorts of wrong. I will reveal the biggest gem of the bathroom in a picture below. It's not very large approximately 5 x 8.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3505.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3505.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">view from entrance</td></tr>
</tbody></table>The doors were a nuisance. Horrible set up.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3511.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3511.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 13px;">looking from window to entrance</span></span></span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>To the left (from the entrance) we have the lovely yellow sink. Please ignore the painting supplies. We were so eager to start on the house.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3507.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3507.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div><br />
Then you have the toilet...don't know why I took a picture with the seat up...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3508.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3508.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">And the cabinet above the toilet</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3509.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3509.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The puke worthy tub / shower</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3503.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3503.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3502.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3502.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Oh yea and the part I "miss" the most about my lovely bathroom is the carpeting. Yes, it was not a mat or rug but carpeting. Talk about gross.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3521.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3521.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3500.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3500.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>Isn't that bathroom scary? Do any bathroom reno's? Dying to do one? Tomorrow we will share how the bathroom pretty much looks today.<br />

Hopefully, will take a lot of pictures. Today also would have been my dad's 52nd birthday, so Happy Birthday Day.<br />
<br />
Wow, week one of the house tour is rounding up to a finish. Today we will briefly cover the sunroom. I have featured it a couple of times already so you can check it out <a href="http://sporksandstuff.blogspot.com/2011/04/vintage-revivals-aka-mandi-epic.html">here</a>.<br />
<br />
This is not a current photo but pretty much it is the same except the bench has been moved to the dining room. So I need a couch or bench. This room is in dire need of help! This will be my primary focus in the next couple of months. It is after all the entrance of our house.<br />

I am really anxious, excited, nervous to tackle this room when I come back home.<br />
<br />
Be sure to follow along next week to see 2nd floor of the house.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1007654050068043664.post-86570940004536360132011-07-21T09:00:00.000-04:002011-07-21T09:00:15.373-04:00Week One House Tour: KitchenToday we will be sharing our kitchen. Believe it or not but this was the most up to date room in the house. Oh yea, the windows were also pretty up to date as well. But back to the kitchen, the stove and refrigerator are ancient.<br />
<br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-small;">warning: I took the following pictures at two different times although not much has really changed except for the addition of a dishwasher.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">We plan to have open shelve cabinets and paint them (probably white). And change out the cheap blue counter top with an affordable alternative. I like the butcher block but it's not practical near the sink.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3475.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3475.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The stove is separate from the main part of the kitchen. We hope to get rid of the cabinets to the left and open up the wall. The room doesn't receive much sunlight as is and I would like to be able to talk to guests as we entertain.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3474.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3474.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_4379.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_4379.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Stove</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_4364.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_4364.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">View from the stove. To the left is the door to the basement. Behind that wall is the closet for the living room on the left and in the middle is a little spot I would like to make as a pantry for the extra cabinet space I will be losing once we open up the kitchen.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_4380.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_4380.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">And this is our small and cozy kitchen.</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1007654050068043664.post-16857595601007160692011-07-20T09:00:00.001-04:002011-07-20T09:00:08.798-04:00Week One House Tour: Dining RoomToday we will have before and in progress (or after) pictures of the dining room. For the year and a half, we didn't really use the dining room. We have been through three different tables and the last one is a keeper.<br />
<br />
Here is how the living room looked when we first moved in<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3468.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3468.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3469.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3469.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3470.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3470.jpg" style="cursor: move;" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3472.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3472.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">And here it is today</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5695.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5695.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5692.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5692.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5694.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5694.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5699.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5699.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Actually it's been updated since these photos. I moved the cabinets around the buffet and moved the bench from the left corner to the opposite side of the room where the cabinets were.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This room is still in need of a lot work. For one, flooring has to go. Then we need to sheetrock the room since those wallpaper panels are still attached to the crumbling plaster behind it. Also need some window treatments and to get the vents covered. We then tried to scrap the wallpaper underneath before my mom paid to have it drywalled and painted. Such a sweet gift.<br />

that's my daughter K with our then puppy Zayla who died after a car hit her when she was 8 months =(<br />

As you may have read in my <a href="http://sporksandstuff.blogspot.com/2011/07/window-shopping-home-goods-2nd-trip.html">last post</a>, I am going to MIA of the country for the next two weeks. Rather than not blog, I have decided to do a house tour. Our house is approximately 1500 sq feet with three bedrooms, 1 bath, a mystery toilet in the basement and a fireplace.<br />
<div><br />
</div><div>Here is the scheduled List</div><div><br />
</div><div><u><b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-small;">Week One</span></b></u></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-small;">Monday - Outside of House</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-small;">Tuesday - Living Room</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-small;">Wednesday - Dining Room</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-small;">Thursday - Kitchen</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-small;">Friday - Sunroom </span><br />

</span></div><div><b><u><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-small;">Week Two</span></u></b></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-small;">Monday - Bathroom (Before)</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-small;">Tuesday - Bathroom (After)</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-small;">Wednesday - Daughter Bedroom</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-small;">Thursday - Third Bedroom</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: x-small;">Friday - Master Bedroom</span></div><div><br />
</div><div><div>The House Tour is officially on. So sit back and relax and enjoy the view.<br />
<br />
Here is the front of our house. It is a twin. We have lots of this weird grass with branch like vines in the front. It's supposed to be very low maintenance but I say it's a pain in the butt.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3550-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="306" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3550-1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3551-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3551-1.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><div>You can see we share a pine tree with our neighbors. We hope to decorate it one Christmas. Picture was taken before we got central air so imagine the compressor in that corner by the white window to the right.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3554-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3554-1.jpg" width="309" /></a></div><div><br />
</div><div>This is the front door. Hopefully, we can replace the screen door with a nice storm door.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3546.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3546.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3547.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3547.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3548.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3548.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">And this is the back of the house. I am not a fan of the awnings. They block out a lot of light. I hope to get the down some day.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3484.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3484.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Here is the view from the back porch. We share our backyard with the neighbor. Need to get rid of that huge bush. It toppled over due to the weight of the snow during the winter. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3480.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3480.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Steps to driveway / garage / basement. Neglected garden bed to your left.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3482.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3482.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">We inherited the "owl" to scare the birds away.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3486.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3486.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Back porch. The vinyl siding needs to be power washed. Door needs to be replaced.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3481.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/House%20Before/IMG_3481.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">And that my friends is the outside of the house. Nothing really major to do outside except a little TLC to spruce it up. Check back to tomorrow to see the living room before pictures.</div></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1007654050068043664.post-14694219274743862562011-07-15T09:00:00.017-04:002011-07-15T09:00:18.876-04:00Window Shopping: Home Goods (2nd Trip, Part 2)Part two of me recent trip to Home Goods. Here are some more items that I found interesting. I have serious weakness for beach decor.<br />
<br />
I loved this faux crab. Reminds me when I was around 6 or 7 and my dad would let the crabs "chase" my brother and myself. It was so much fun. My dad made the best crabs and he spoiled us by taking time and cleaning all the dirty stuff in the shell. I learned not everyone (well actually no one) does this.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5893.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5893.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I have an addiction to vase fillers. These neutral tone tan and brown could go with virtually any table setting.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5879.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5879.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5872.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5872.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5866.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5866.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5863.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5863.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This abstract driftwood turtle caught my eye. Love the different tones of wood.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5862.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5862.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5861.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5861.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This pretty flower candle holder reminds me of the <a href="http://www.amazon.com/HIC-Lotus-Porcelain-Ounce-Capacity/dp/B001RTSJ74">lotus bowls</a> I collect.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5890.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5890.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Sorry for the blurry picture but this reminded me of Star Wars, lol</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5894.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5894.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I want a duck! My new neighbor has some seagulls in her window. They look very pretty.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5881.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5881.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Don't really remember the cost but this would be easy to replicate with a door pull and some tacks or nailhead trim if you had some on hand. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5889.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5889.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Funny egg shaped bird cage...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5870.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5870.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5869.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5869.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Treasure chest with seashell embellishments, it wasn't the 9.99 item. Don't think I would buy it.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5865.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5865.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">And yesterday, I said I would point out what I thought was the most ridiculously price item. I am really not trying to knock the artist or the actual person who took time to do this but it looked very cheaply done, IMO. Looks like a popcorn ceiling far away. This table is a whopping 499.99 + tax of course</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5873.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5873.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This brought out the LOL...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5885.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5885.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Now from afar it doesn't look so bad, but when you look closer, </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5874.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5874.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5876.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5876.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5875.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5875.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">you see it's looks like white macaroni, maybe I should hire my daughter to glue some on furniture...not that would be child labor or anything, we will call it craft time, yea that's it. Or I could just apply for the 10% and get it at steal for $450 + tax...hmm, decisions decisions</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I lied in the title. I actually bought something, it was like 99% window shopping. Can you guess what item I bought? Drum roll.....</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I bought the...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5937.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5937.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">driftwood turtle. It was $10. This would be an easy DIY if you had some driftwood/wood chips/lath sticks and staples. It has like three longer pieces (the length of the body) underneath, then you would layer smaller chips on top. I dragged my boyfriend to Home Goods. This was probably a good representation of how he felt after 6+ hours of shopping.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5878.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5878.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
So previously, the only Home Goods I have been to were in Marshall's in their own little section of the store. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to visit the stand alone store since I was in the area.<br />
<br />
I have an Obsecion of chairs and mirrors. Some mirrors that caught my eye<br />
<br />
This pretty oval mirror with flower detail. It was decent size at $60. I usually not one for gold but this mirror looked spectacular in this gold finish. I would just hang as is.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5851.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5851.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5853.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5853.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The next mirror is just like the infamous ZGallerie <a href="http://www.zgallerie.com/p-8089-devon-mirror-white.aspx">Devon mirror</a> but half the price at $100. In white or</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5847.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5847.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">gold, but the finish was not that great on the gold</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5846.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5846.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">We also found this interesting mirror with smaller overlapping squares</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5848.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5848.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Now on to my second favorite house item of the moment, CHAIRS! I don't think you can ever really have too many and I wish I could by or at least recreate all of the ones I saw.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I love the damask pattern of this chair and the colors really would like nice in my bedroom. The picture looks more green but is actually closer to yellow IRL.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5877.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5877.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">How lovely is this French word chair?</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5858.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5858.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This post is very picture heavy and I have a feeling getting too long so I am gonna break it up into to posts. I have more items to show as well as an item I actually bought. Also the most ridiculously priced item I have seen at Home Goods to come next time I post.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Buy any items from Home Goods or home decor shops? Do you have any weird obsession to furniture or house decor items? </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: xx-small;">P.S. I was not paid or compensated for this post. I really love Home Goods wanted to highlight items that caught my attention on my most recent shopping trip.</span></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1007654050068043664.post-10325545379623166372011-07-12T09:00:00.001-04:002011-07-12T09:00:07.854-04:00A Year Ago Today...(death mentioned)I went to a routine 31 week appointment and found out I lost my son, Noah Edward. At 25, you don't expect things like that to happen. The past 2 and a half years have been very draining and trying for me. First, my dad dying by a freak car accident in February 2009 and then, me losing my son to a cord accident.<br />
<br />
I was going to release balloons but I don't what I will do tomorrow. Just probably do a lot of reflecting. It has been hard watching other people with their children born around my son. While, I am happy that everyone has healthy happy babies, I die a little on the inside I can't be with mine.<br />
<br />
So here's to my angel baby Noah: We (K, Carlito and I) love and miss you. There is not a day we don't think about you.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1007654050068043664.post-44544304828068884552011-07-11T22:55:00.000-04:002011-07-11T22:55:24.086-04:00I Loved Thrifting: Philly(burbs) style<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">I had the pleasure this weekend to meet 4 bloggers from the Philadelphia I <3 Thrifting Event that was sparked by blogger Rashon Carraway aka </span><a href="http://rashoncarraway.com/"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Mr Goodwill Hunting</span></a><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">. </tbody></table><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">I was initially very nervous about meeting new people since I tend to be very shy. From the moment I introduced myself, I felt very welcome, comfortable and a part of the group. I felt like I was chatting it up with some old friends. I didn't get to go the first store (I woke up late, sorry) but I joined the ladies on the 2nd (Impact) and 3rd (Salvation Army) stores as well as Panera Bread *yum* for lunch. I would definitely do it again without a doubt. It felt so great meeting some fellow local bloggers and people who share the same interests (saving money!). I also didn't get any photos, blame the shyness but you can read more about the day at <a href="http://inmyownstyle.com/2011/07/philadelphia-we-loved-thrifting.html">Diane's blog</a>. <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #474747; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', Times, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22px;">Here are some of my finds of the day. </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #474747; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', Times, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22px;">First we have our Impact finds. We got to meet the manager of the store, Pepper. He gave us some Impact chapstick and some coupons, a 25% for that day and a 5 dollar off for a next time purchase. Pepper was very helpful and informative by explaining the stores mission and how the silent auction operates. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #474747; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', Times, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22px;"><br />

So I picked up the one on the right for $10 before coupon. They are so similar but one on the right is slightly smaller and the details on the top are more feminine.</span></span><br />

He went to the two thift stores, Panera Bread, as well as 5 Below, Old Navy and Home Goods before he started to get bothered by me, lol. </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #474747; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', Times, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 22px;">I have never been to a stand alone Home Goods so I had to pop in for a minute or an hour or so. I found some amazing items and some not so amazing thing that I will share with you in a post later this week =). </span><br />

Huge warning, this post is very pic heavy. Finally a post of my house that isn't my sunroom. So as I mentioned from my last post, I finally found my dream dining set on Craigslist from a thrift store about 30 minutes away. My loving mom happily obliged and help me transport the farmhouse table and four chairs. Now my inspiration was of this farmhouse table and round cane back chairs that I found on <a href="http://pinterest.com/">Pinterest</a>.</div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.blogger.com/goog_204583117"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-5ax1Aonlt94/TaiHaQNsLII/AAAAAAAABpo/AfZ8opvmu5c/s320/10-2-shabby+chic.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://iheartshabbychic.blogspot.com/2011/04/shabby-chic-apartment-ideas.html">iheartshabbychic</a></td></tr>
</tbody></table><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div>So here is a photo of my dining room before I brought in my new table and cleaned up a bit.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5669.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5669.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The room has some off white floral wallpaper panels that were nailed to the wall. The walls have pretty much deteriorated and crumble once you remove the panels. Not looking forward to drywalling this room with all the cuts that will be necessary. The vents are exposed throughout the first floor since we were going to update the horrible electrical job from the house but lack of funds have prevented us to do so. Eventually, I want to knock down half the wall between dining room and kitchen so it's a bit more open.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5670.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5670.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5676.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5676.jpg" style="cursor: move;" width="213" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>My mom is probably would be cringing right now that I would show my dining room in this state but lucky for me she's not an internet person. So what you are looking at is a dog crate on the bottom left corner, our failed DIY Ana White Modern Farmhouse Table, chairs and a bench on top of failed table, vacuum in the back next to the buffet, 2 cabinets and my saxophone case to the right and a pile of junk in the right corner. We originally had an IKEA round pedestal table that I end up hating almost immediately. That currently resides in my mom's new house kitchen area. I then built the failed modern farmhouse table. It was actually perfectly fine and square until we forced the boards into the table. Needless to say, this warped the table and I am too lazy to figure out a solution to fix it so I just gave up. I secretly started to hate the table after completing it so this did help to sway my decision to find something new.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5674.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5674.jpg" width="171" /></a></div><div style="text-align: left;">I inherited two of these cabinets from my grandmother when she moved in with my mom earlier this year. She got them from my mom a couple of years ago. This one doesn't have the doors attached cause I am working on updating the piece. I really don't anticipate using it for DVD storage but my boyfriend was cleaning up and stuck them in there for the time being.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5687.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/IMG_5687.jpg" width="213" /></a></div>The left side of the room has a chair next to the cage. The rotary phone on the wall is not even functional since we currently don't have a house phone. It came with the house.<br />
<br />
Now here is a picture of my cleaned out dining room with the new table with 1 leaf insert, 4 cane back chairs and <a href="http://sporksandstuff.blogspot.com/2011/04/bench-and-2-free-chairs-why-it-pays-to.html">bench</a> from my sunroom.<br />

</tbody></table>I am seriously in love with my "new" dining room. In the year and half that we have lived here, we never ate in the dining room. Sad, I know but I always used the table as a work table for my various <a href="http://ana-white.com/">Ana White</a> projects I have completed (will show more of those later). I didn't want to leave my dining room at all. Sure everything is not the colors I really want now but the room is taking a turn for the good unlike some other unmentionable room. I literally go into the room and light up about it. I will probably change out the French Provincial buffet but for now it works. Here are the other items in the room<br />

About a week ago, I put a deposit on a table with cane back chairs I found on Craigslist from a consignment store. I wasn't in love per say with the table but the chairs said hello, you must buy me. So I needed to hold it until the following (this) week and I will probably lose my deposit but it was worth it. Note to self: Listen to pleads of daughter and boyfriend to not buy things on impulse. But the plan was to always buy a farmhouse table later on down the road since I found this inspiration photo on <a href="http://pinterest.com/">Pinterest</a> from <a href="http://iheartshabbychic.blogspot.com/">iheartshabbychic</a>.</div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://iheartshabbychic.blogspot.com/2011/04/shabby-chic-apartment-ideas.html">iheartshabbychic</a></td></tr>
</tbody></table>I am one of the most indecisive person you will ever meet. I have gone from a round table to a modern farmhouse table fail via <a href="http://ana-white.com/">Ana White</a> (my fault, not her designs - she's great), to everything in between to finally end up on this vision.<br />
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Well let's just say later down the road turned to yesterday. I was searching Craigslist (yea, I know I have a sick addiction) and I found this lovely beauty for $50. </div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"></div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-bottom: 0.5em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-bottom: 6px; padding-left: 6px; padding-right: 6px; padding-top: 6px; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/3k93m53la5Q05P05S2b6nf5138bb746a41435.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/3k93m53la5Q05P05S2b6nf5138bb746a41435.jpg" style="cursor: move;" /></a></div></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="font-size: 13px; padding-top: 4px; text-align: center;"><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">Craigslist</div><div><br />
</div></td></tr>
</tbody></table><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/3k63p83lc5W65P55X5b6n73ddc071621b1b19.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v20/bizzyangel/3k63p83lc5W65P55X5b6n73ddc071621b1b19.jpg" /></a></div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Yes, I know deposit on the other table but it was everything I wanted...well almost everything compared to table one I previously put on layaway. It still would be cheaper to lose the deposit and just buy this table then pay for the other one so the goods (dream table set) outweighed the bad(money for deposit).</div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">So I instantly panicked, what if it was already bought, I mean the date said June 23rd and it was June 24th. Good things usually go fast on Craigslist. So I said, self you must leave work early and race to buy the table but luckily my trusty coworker talked me out of losing my 10 hours of overtime I racked up during the week. So then my idea light bulb went off. This listing was from a thrift store and said thrift store opens at 10am but it was still 9am so I double check the listing. They posted at 5:15pm, 45 minutes before closing time at 6 (based off of their website) so the likeliness that my precious dining room set was still there was very high.</div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">So I called at 10am and was elated when the guy confirmed it was still there. But would it be there tomorrow, then the store worker said he could do a phone order. Really, are you serious? Now obviously you have to be very cautious these days and I did some research on the store and the phone numbers from the Craigslist ad matched the store's website and I felt comfortable doing the phone transaction. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but my gut said it was right and well it made me very happy that I could secure my table.</div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">He said I had about a week to pick up my precious. Bad thing is I drive a car. So I sucked up my pride and asked my mom to pick it up with me since she has a small Benz SUV and I have a Hybrid Camry (even less trunk space than the normal one). Now, don't' get me wrong, I love my mom and she seriously will do anything for me but when I bought my car she said I should get a SUV and I didn't. Yes mom, you were right for once. So she agreed and we went today to pick it up.</div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Honestly, I had my doubt as to wtf did you just buy a used table unseen or tested. But all my thoughts were pushed aside once I made it inside the thrift store. The table was sturdy (actually the legs come off so it can be reinforced easily), the cane back chairs were almost immaculate (one is a little loose but nothing major) and the table is solid WOOD. I just saw a farmhouse table yesterday that was a veneer top and very cheaply constructed. This one also has a drawer on end. Very lucky the legs came off for easy transport in my moms car. Wish the chairs were curvier and the legs were more ornate but I can't be too picky considering this was such a deal.</div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Now, I don't have any pictures tonight but I will try to take some tomorrow. I have inserted the leaf with all 4 chairs around the table and added my <a href="http://sporksandstuff.blogspot.com/2011/04/bench-and-2-free-chairs-why-it-pays-to.html?showComment=1304829992548#c9075983654742023493">bench</a> from the sunroom to the mix. To say I am love is such and understatement. I am like glowing from ear to ear at how amazing this is coming out and I haven't even started to refinish yet. I tried looking for some fabric today without luck. Then again, I don't know what I am really envisioning right now. Remember it looks like this<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgH14rlDU2SUBG2QXPntRe81rMhic2u0zK5m7JhBxwLKeRmdr3zWNfpmlSxb6Iw6_AyuQfb79sTUYUcZCGg4trkOgGrCfc6M2y5srA1zHuYlfFo6U-zbHYJwg7KVXSSPjZCA6n7yMf2b2E/s1600/IMG_4789.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgH14rlDU2SUBG2QXPntRe81rMhic2u0zK5m7JhBxwLKeRmdr3zWNfpmlSxb6Iw6_AyuQfb79sTUYUcZCGg4trkOgGrCfc6M2y5srA1zHuYlfFo6U-zbHYJwg7KVXSSPjZCA6n7yMf2b2E/s320/IMG_4789.jpg" width="213" /></a></div><br />

Actually, thinking of moving it to my dining room table. Can't wait to see how that plays out. But back to the sunroom, I think the current bench is not scaled for the room / area it is in. I would need to add something to each side to feel more balanced in the room. It seems very small and I was going to buy another couch or move my living room, but now I think I want another bench. I actually thought of it after I found this Church pew on Craigslist.</div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Craigslist</td></tr>
</tbody></table><div>I actually like this one from Craigslist but I fear it would weigh the room down. It looks very heavy and solid but I need something lighter and airy like this other bench I found at a second hand furniture store. Both are roughly the same price at $100. </div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

Here are couple of things that tickled my fancy that were $100 and under.</div><div><br />
</div><div> Like this flower shaped table coffee table. I love the curvy shape and the support lines underneath the glass add extra interest. Definitely not your usual rectangular wood coffee table and I would love to buy for only $60 but I already have three coffee tables. The boyfriend would NOT be happy. We already have <a href="http://sporksandstuff.blogspot.com/2011/05/6-thrift-store-coffee-table.html">this lovely table</a> that I painted blue for the living room, a yard sale table for the sunroom, and a Goodwill table that doesn't have a home but it was only $1.00 since it was missing a glass insert.</div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://images.craigslist.org/3n33mc3ld5Y45W55R0b6fc6429927d5451b5d.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://images.craigslist.org/3n33mc3ld5Y45W55R0b6fc6429927d5451b5d.jpg" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Craigslist</td></tr>
</tbody></table><div>This cute mirror with antique-style gold trim for $25. I am no gold girl but this mirror could convert me. Love the details of it and it would look great for my future wall of mirrors or sunroom. Also would make a cool chalkboard.</div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://images.craigslist.org/3k23ob3la5O15U05S6b6g1806c0e45a4d1a0c.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://images.craigslist.org/3k23ob3la5O15U05S6b6g1806c0e45a4d1a0c.jpg" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Craigslist</td></tr>
</tbody></table><div>Next we have this vintage nightstands for $45 for the set. Just looks like they need some extra loving on the top. Would be cute to paint them a funky color or even a glaze just enhance the wood tones for a nice variation of colors. </div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://images.craigslist.org/3n53kb3m85V35P25X3b6gf5212994766614c4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://images.craigslist.org/3n53kb3m85V35P25X3b6gf5212994766614c4.jpg" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Craigslist</td></tr>
</tbody></table><div>Finally, this green painted farmhouse table with turned legs and a drawer caught my eye for $100. Not the best deal of the day since it doesn't include any chairs. On the other hand, it is also solid wood and I want it bad.</div><div><div><div><br />
</div></div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-bottom: 0.5em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-bottom: 6px; padding-left: 6px; padding-right: 6px; padding-top: 6px; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="font-size: 13px; padding-top: 4px; text-align: center;">Craigslist</td></tr>
</tbody></table><div>You see, on <a href="http://pinterest.com/">Pinterest</a>, I saved this image for my dining room inspiration</div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-bottom: 0.5em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-bottom: 6px; padding-left: 6px; padding-right: 6px; padding-top: 6px; text-align: center;"><tbody>

</tbody></table><div>I found 6 caned-back chairs that came with an oval table form $95 on Craigslist at a local Consigment Store that aren't as curvy. They are more like these ones from <a href="http://threeboys-home.blogspot.com/2011/04/antique-cane-chairs-before-after.html">threeboys</a> although 2 are armchairs.</div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-bottom: 0.5em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding-bottom: 6px; padding-left: 6px; padding-right: 6px; padding-top: 6px; text-align: center;"><tbody>

</tbody></table><div>But not pretty at all, rather dingy I may say so. But it's ok. The plan is to redo and update the chairs. Then hang onto the table until I either sell said table, buy a farmhouse table or build one. Preferably, I would like to find one like the green one above.</div><div><br />
</div><div>So that's the plan. Can't wait to share. Should have the table and chairs in another week or so. Will update with the goods when they arrive.<br />

<div>Now, I don't have a green thumb, far from it. </div><div>So imagine my surprise when I found 5 (end up being 6) strawberries in my front yard. I actually thought they were berries from my neighbors grass and then I felt there texture.</div><br />

Turns out the good ol' boyfriend threw the seeds away earlier this year since I said they expired. I got them a year ago from Target and I always intend to plant things but never get around to it. We actually have 5 more strawberries by a gate in our backyard. So lessoned learned. The seeds do not really expired (can't vouch on taste) and it doesn't take much to garden strawberries from Target, ha.</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1007654050068043664.post-86542150483159396392011-06-03T18:10:00.011-04:002011-06-09T10:15:22.495-04:00Introducing: Bessie, my new deskMeet Bessie. Say hi, don't be shy. Isn't she beautiful.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiKc6qtGHF4kiC_QZeP_k8VqBbIVPS60XP-9k1ZIfI181Jpeg2CAyY8FGHUo_81Xfwhl7SWjD2WTS6pUdmHDA55PGmwYeAvz-j5dbK4GmsgZZ-1it980qCF8dQpsULwxS19Vew0P0P2qw/s1600/IMG_5372.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="246px" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiKc6qtGHF4kiC_QZeP_k8VqBbIVPS60XP-9k1ZIfI181Jpeg2CAyY8FGHUo_81Xfwhl7SWjD2WTS6pUdmHDA55PGmwYeAvz-j5dbK4GmsgZZ-1it980qCF8dQpsULwxS19Vew0P0P2qw/s320/IMG_5372.JPG" width="320px" /></a></div><br />
<br />
I have this thing for naming objects. I remember naming the cats, although not objects but an animal, we dissected in Biology in 10th grade. Our cat was named Fred. So I think I will name my furniture as I go along. Well maybe not all of em but the ones that are dear to my heart.<br />
<br />
I bought her off a guy on Craigslist on Sunday. I originally wanted another desk and you could read about that <a href="http://sporksandstuff.blogspot.com/2011/06/love-of-my-life.html">here</a>. But back to Bessie, she once started out as this.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyW-8R4oYG36pXKO2Q7zTeYiWpS1S5oO4R9F71Qb8bMeih0halhe3Xp24H7xIiGEQBdcg8MHw24dGnp1ZAfu1Nxr_4z4mU8U8dikVFlx6gmP39CNMFKXbioZIY-S1E_SzK1QhyphenhyphenmDvQqg8/s1600/IMG_5298.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="201px" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyW-8R4oYG36pXKO2Q7zTeYiWpS1S5oO4R9F71Qb8bMeih0halhe3Xp24H7xIiGEQBdcg8MHw24dGnp1ZAfu1Nxr_4z4mU8U8dikVFlx6gmP39CNMFKXbioZIY-S1E_SzK1QhyphenhyphenmDvQqg8/s320/IMG_5298.JPG" width="320px" /></a></div><br />
<br />
But I had this great idea to follow a technique by <a href="http://missmustardseed.blogspot.com/">Marian</a>, aka MissMustardSeed, that she did with her old dining room chairs. Except, I loved when Bessie was painted the Valspar Running Stream and couldn't fathom putting BEHR Light French Gray over her pretty ol' self. I really like the Valspar color considering I did my <a href="http://sporksandstuff.blogspot.com/2011/05/6-thrift-store-coffee-table.html">thriftstore table</a> the same color. Although, the table doesn't like that anymore and not for the better.<br />
<div><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSx7CCaNQ8Pm-4rXWdpk52bKlXmKOE0nz3PIAuIy2viiCXiXco4xW9_L6d0CGLL954VP-cGPstIjfLftnXFaWxTnm7eU2_bk-DJDKQUYbZod4WHN9kyavr3lAvOXh_dnxoELt4ZoAZeUY/s1600/IMG_5320.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213px" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSx7CCaNQ8Pm-4rXWdpk52bKlXmKOE0nz3PIAuIy2viiCXiXco4xW9_L6d0CGLL954VP-cGPstIjfLftnXFaWxTnm7eU2_bk-DJDKQUYbZod4WHN9kyavr3lAvOXh_dnxoELt4ZoAZeUY/s320/IMG_5320.JPG" width="320px" /></a></div><br />
Anywho, back to Bessie. Just look at her. I decided to paint the drawers and side panels with the Light French Gray. I love that color. It looks a bit bluish gray in person and the paint sample I bought was flat so it looked similar to white when painted but it's not. After I painted the frame and drawers, I decided I was going to stain the top. Yes, not one of my brightest moves but you live and you learn. It wasn't that hard to strip the top but it was worth it.<br />

I honestly didn't care for it and contemplated redoing it but I slept on it and the next day I decided I was going to distress the whole piece the same way. I sealed the top with Danish oil (what I had on hand) and add the original hardware, scuffed it up a bit. Still on the fence if I will spray paint them oiled rubbed bronze but for now they stay. Now, I am in love with Bessie. She makes me smile. I honestly thought it was going to turn out bad after the initial test glaze but I loved her more and more each time I distressed her. I am usually a procrastinator. I got Bessie last Sunday by Thursday night I completed her, starting on Wednesday none the less. I have projects I have started or bought, like <a href="http://sporksandstuff.blogspot.com/2011/04/bench-and-2-free-chairs-why-it-pays-to.html">these chairs</a> , months ago that are still untouched. I am very inspired to finish more things to share.<br />
<br />
And here is the $3 chair I got from the thrift store to go with her.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbm-LcHIYkzhLYYZBXuLHxJCrRVl1p9ciRatLmHUg-dESZai1tpwIN1S_bKKOb7mYd2KPrnNkrabZAN15J3bm1k14CKY4pEZzS58ES4Gmxp_AQfpw9j7vwtysasyAyqRQ3F8rBfxVWI2Q/s1600/IMG_5316.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320px" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbm-LcHIYkzhLYYZBXuLHxJCrRVl1p9ciRatLmHUg-dESZai1tpwIN1S_bKKOb7mYd2KPrnNkrabZAN15J3bm1k14CKY4pEZzS58ES4Gmxp_AQfpw9j7vwtysasyAyqRQ3F8rBfxVWI2Q/s320/IMG_5316.jpg" width="192px" /></a></div><br />
<br />
Funny thing is, I actually bought the chair first but luckily they fit perfectly together. Was going to do something to it but for now I think I like the pairing of the two. No after photos, sorry. Maybe next time.<br />
<br />

It was beautifully carved leather top and all. I fell in love with it, really bad. The boyfriend hated it. We went to go get it and well, it didn't fit in my Camry. Foolish me thought it could work and yes, I tried but it didn't happen. To say the least, I was mad and frustrated and the boyfriend was easily madder than me but he loves me and he tried to help.</div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://images.craigslist.org/3k53mc3oa5W25X45R3b5va90bcfc52d3f136a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://images.craigslist.org/3k53mc3oa5W25X45R3b5va90bcfc52d3f136a.jpg" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Craigslist<br />
</td></tr>
</tbody></table>He actually preferred this desk which is really a vanity and a lot more feminine. I sent the poster an email but they never responded. Probably thought I was a scammer, or maybe they are scammers. It's still on Craigslist today...<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://images.craigslist.org/3n63k93od5Q25Z25R0b62f5d9d334b4141d2c.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://images.craigslist.org/3n63k93od5Q25Z25R0b62f5d9d334b4141d2c.jpg" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Craigslist</td></tr>
</tbody></table><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div>I actually liked both but I preferred the first since I would put that in my living room. The second would definitely go in my bedroom. I need a desk area to put my laptop and I don't trust leaving it downstairs at night. Although we have three bedrooms, it is much easier to section off an area in our bedroom for the "work/leisure" zone than try to finish the third bedroom for an office.<br />
<br />
<div>So I looked again on Craigslist and found this beautiful mahogany vanity/desk. I always like to see the potential in the items I buy. Now granted, she wasn't in all that bad shape in the first place but I knew she could be beautiful once again if she was all mine.<br />

</tbody></table>I actually have been looking for a desk and possibly thinking about building one but I am very indecisive when it comes to picking things. So when I found the desk for $35, I jumped right on it. Called the guy and he said come on down. He actually is a regular poster on CL and I always drool at the nice vintage items he usually offers for really cheap (well CL cheap, not thrift store cheap).</div><div><br />
</div><div>I actually sidetracked a bit before I went and bought a chair that I share with later. I don't know why I bought it but you can never have too many chairs, IMO.<br />
<br />
So back to my desk. I painted it and stained the top. I still need to distress it a bit more and I can't wait to put it in my room to replace this IKEA desk. It's same top but with aluminum legs. Very cheap and a big eyesore. What was I thinking? Actually, it was for my daughter's room but when I rearranged her room it no longer fit since some her furniture is floating in the center.<br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Can't wait to share the reveal and hopefully will get more things checked off my to do list for the bedroom. Like um, painting the trim that I started months, ago. Hahaha.</div></div></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1007654050068043664.post-5576715811992012262011-05-25T09:00:00.001-04:002011-05-25T09:00:14.009-04:00Chair, you're fired!That's right I said it. Since we moved in a year and a half ago, the television in our bedroom has been sitting on a chair. Yes, I said a chair. The funny part is we have a couple of tables or even benches that could get the job done but Mr. chair was trusty and reliable aka we were too lazy to move it. If it ain't broke, why fix it, right?<br />

By chance, I was on Craigslist for no real reason and found this beauty.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://images.craigslist.org/3nb3ma3o45V35W55X6b5f543b0b8322af111d.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" src="http://images.craigslist.org/3nb3ma3o45V35W55X6b5f543b0b8322af111d.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><br />
Seriously, I think I have an addiction. I'd much prefer stalking the thrift stores but I must work to support my <span class="Apple-style-span" style="text-decoration: line-through;">habits</span> family, so I don't get to go out in the prime shopping hours and most thrift stores are closed or closing by the time I get off of work. I don't know what I am necessarily looking for all the time but I have a strange attraction to Craigslist. Their should be some sort of 12 step program for it. I keep hitting refresh looking for something new to pop up, maybe in hopes of finding something like <a href="http://sporksandstuff.blogspot.com/2011/04/bench-and-2-free-chairs-why-it-pays-to.html">this</a> again. I also have some sort of addiction to watch how people like to overprice their crap. I love the listings of said beautiful item for $1000+ with no pictures. Yea, you really sold me. Anyways, back to my lovely new tv stand.<br />
<br />
I initially emailed the seller 2 weeks ago on a Friday evening. I thought she ignored my message, which I think is very rude, but she actually did respond and I turned out to be the rude one since I never replied back after she responded twice. As fate would have it, I happened to check my gmail account (which is not one of my three main accounts) and realized she had responded to that account. So I asked if the table was still up for grabs and by luck it was. Long story short, I was able to pick up my new tv stand last Thursday and it has been love at first site.<br />

I love a piece with curves as you can see <a href="http://sporksandstuff.blogspot.com/2011/05/6-thrift-store-coffee-table.html">here</a>. Definitely going to paint and thinking about adding mirrors to the inserts. My inspirations are<br />

</tbody></table><div>I am thinking I will pick up some Sherwin Williams Creamy to try out on my table and glaze it. Sherwin Williams is having a 30% off paint sale until the 30th so it's a good time to pick up some paint. I have been wanting to try some Sherwin William paint considering <a href="http://missmustardseed.blogspot.com/">MissMustardSeed</a> raves about SW paint and that color in particular. I am not being paid for advertising or anything but I thought I would throw it out there in case anyone wants to try some SW paint out since it's on the pricey side.<br />
